It starts with a call….

We are thankful for the 11 office workers we have that give weekly time to get things moving.   These volunteers have big hearts and at times are emotionally drained when they leave.   They handle our phones “where help begins”.  As the person calls the intake office our volunteers are ready to encourage.   Not only is the intake done, but they listen to the sometimes painful stories of clients calling.   Our intake specialist offer prayer and provides hope and encouragement before they say, “goodbye”.   The intake volunteers can testify to the change in mindset of the caller in this first phone call.   This intake role is essential, behind the scenes but very important due to a number of reasons.  For many it is where hope begins.

 

 

Business Partners…thank you!!

In 2016 we appreciated the partnership of different businesses.

NAPA auto group and their partners in the area selected us to be recipients of one of their Oil Change for Charity drives.   This group consisted of various mechanic shops in the area where $1 per oil change is donated to charity.  It accumulated to over $400.

Target Distribution Center…Thank you Target for the donation of many clothing items and some other items.   This partnership kept our Mobile Clothing Closet full, and provided new and clean clothing to those in need.   Their contribution went a long way.

J&D Mini Storage…Their donation of one storage unit has helped us maintain our clothing distribution outreach.    We are able to store, sort, and prepare handing out as a result of their partnership.

Hy-Vee…Once again they were a key partner in gathering Christmas gifts for various clients in need.   They helped raise awareness and provided a drop off spot for many fine gifts in this particular outreach.   Thanks for making this work, and thank you to all who gave.  You help reach 57 children in need.

United Way…We appreciate their coordinated efforts in helping us keep things in stock and connection to events like the ones that took place with Target.

2017 a time to give and serve

We are thankful for the new supporters and groups that have been part of our financial team in 2017.  We still need more help to make this a constant ministry.    One lady we helped with a vehicle repair asked the mechanic when the work was done how much she owed for the parts.  He simply stated, “You owe me church.”  She said ok, and she went with her kids the next Sunday.  She loved where  she visited.  The friendly people, the worship, and the love.   The volunteer that referred her to Love INC followed up with her and the excitement was overflowing.  We are thankful how God worked in this way.  It took a person with a need, someone who new of our ministry to refer the person, it took volunteers in the office, volunteers willing to check out and repair the vehicle, and it took a church to receive and welcome the fabulous family.  We are thankful for this work.

Families in need of dining tables and other household items look to us to for encouragement.   How  great is it to be able to put a table and chairs in someone’s dining room.  Eating together, using it for homework or reading, or sitting around the table laughing.   Great times!!

Items that bring hope and encouragement

Recycle your unwanted household items with us.   Your good conditioned items that you want to get rid of or replace can be used in our community.  We have 27 Gap Outreach ministries.  These GM are things we use to connect the church with the client, and to meet basic needs of individuals.   Lamps, kitchen items, bikes, tables, and many more things (visit the Gap Ministry page to see a complete listing) are used in big ways.

People who have nothing in their homes for various reasons receive a piece of yours.   By donating items to us you are investing greatly with the needy in our community.

The following are needs we have in four of our Gap Ministries that are immediate:

Furniture Ministry:   Couches and love seats (they should be free from rips, smells, and stains)
Peace N Rest Ministry:  Twin bed sets; dressers (also need to be free from rips, smells, and stains)
Lamp Ministry:  Lamps both table and floor
Baby items:   pack n plays;  diapers; strollers
